As a publisher, I have helped hundreds of authors get into the market. While I don’t deal with so many of them directly, we hear their stories of fear and trepidation as they have the faith to take their book from a Word document into a fully published book (and e-book, of course).
It’s never been that big a deal to me – until it was my turn. Before launching my book, I felt the call to launch a blog, and as such I called my good mate Tim Pascoe, who offered to do the photos. Putting my face on the internet was extremely nerve-wracking. I’ve always loved being behind the scenes, tinkering in the background while others take the glory.
In one regard, writing a book was easy, but in another, it was the scariest thing I have done. As a publisher, the process was easy, but the fear of failure, of rejection by the market saw me hold back from launching this years longer than was necessary.
While running a business is never easy, it did become like clockwork. In knowing what I am doing (most of the time), I got comfortable. But I felt God calling me to write this book and spread the message to help encourage others in business and life in general.
When you’re stepping out in faith, it will never be easy. It will never be comfortable, but when you know what you’re called to do, then you need to trust your Creator and just go for it.
What if you fail? Yes, but what if you succeed? Go for it!
