Lauren Daigle has visited America’s largest maximum-security prison, witnessing to the prison’s inmates and helping raise money for their care in the process.

Angola, in the state of Louisiana, is the largest maximum-security prison in the United States, with 6,300 prisoners and 1,800 staff.

In a video shared to Instagram, she said, “I appreciate and I love all of you guys. I know that I don’t know you but maybe someday I get to cross paths with you. And if not here then on the other side. In heaven we’ll be able to give each other a big whole hug. Honestly, I care so much about each one of your stories.”

Lauren used Giving Tuesday to funds to help provide clothing and phone calls for the prisoners. Phone calls mean the prisoners can make more calls to family and loved ones this Christmas.

The generosity of those who donated money will provide more than 70,000 minutes of connection to friends, family and loved ones, as the prisoners are charged for phone calls they make.

She then sang “How Can It Be” for them.

Lauren was named artist of the year at the 50th annual Gospel Music Association’s Dove Awards this year. The popular singer also won song of the year and pop/contemporary album of the year.
