Have you ever spoken to someone who is passionate about something? Ask them about their obsession and they will talk faster and faster for as long as you’ll let them. A fire burns deep within them that seems to almost feed itself. It’s a beautiful thing to see a person blossom in their unique calling and with His gifting.
Don’t waste your life. God planted a crazy desire in your heart for His purpose too. Before you argue with me on this, sit with pen and paper and write a letter to God, a letter that you don’t have to show anyone but yourself and Him . . . pour out your heart. Eventually your dream will appear – that secret gifting that you’re almost too embarrassed to admit to.
I’ve had some women say to me after they dig deep for a while, ‘Yeah, but surely that’s not something I can do on the mission field.”
That depends. Exactly how do you define ‘mission field?’ Because, from what I’ve read in the Bible, the field is pretty wide; I know hairdressers, accountants and teachers who are missionaries – right in their own home town. Whatever you do, do it with all your might, right where he’s planted you and for His glory. Don’t settle for living a life without passion and zeal, ask the Lord how He can use the talents and gifts he’s given you and then step out in faith and shake up your life for the Kingdom. Live a larger life!
Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
