It has been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and depending on what a person likes that what they identify as pretty. But we now find ourselves as women putting more emphasizes on our outer appearance only and not maturing and nurturing our inner being. We fix our face to attract a man because some of us only have confidence in their looks instead of what they can truly offer. My sister you are more than just a pretty face. In (Ps. 139:14) states: “………. because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” is not a scripture based on ones looks but it is about how God has created us with and that was a marvelous work, he created us with substance.
When we think about how we were created it was depicted based on the image of God, all parts of who he is, is beautiful and because we are created after him all parts of us are beautiful. As women, we need to ask ourselves can I function if my face isn’t made up? Will my self-esteem suffer because of this change? These are serious questions that you need to ask yourself if you are going to be successful in every part of your life. When one only focuses on one part of who they are it will lessen their total being. What we are saying to young girls across this land is that, you will never be successful or loved based on what your face looks and this will set a bad example for those young girls and women who struggle within themselves.
One’s entire life cannot be geared around their looks because if it is, when people see you they will only see a “Surface being” without any depth and that will soon take a toll. In (Esther 1:11-19), Vashti was a beautiful woman who was portrayed and used for her looks, the story never spoke about her character, her life, her goals and dreams nor her purpose but just her looks. So, when the king called for her she didn’t respond because inwardly she knew why the call was being made and because of her disobedience she was removed from being queen. They were so focused on her looks but not focusing on what she can bring or add to the kingdom.
Ladies please note that You are more than a pretty face! And I have proof of that:
- Women are givers of life, for we are the carriers of the seed.
- We are nurturers, we go beyond the call of duty to ensure that those assigned and birthed out of us are in a good place.
- Women are providers even when they must do it alone.
- Women are intelligent, we know how to figure out how things are going to work out and make it happen.
- Women are go getters, we don’t allow set-backs to shut us down.
- Women are gracious and that does not stem from the outside but from the inside out.
- Women are creative and innovative beings.
- Women put their emotions in check.
- Women are humble.
Don’t allow a false image and flattering words from others to devalue your worth and purpose. You are beautiful in your own right and not based off your outer appearance but how you view and see yourself. You are more than just a pretty face but you have substance and depth. Don’t get so caught up in your beauty that you forget your purpose. When you were created, you were created & chosen with purpose in mind. (1st Thessalonians 1:4)
